OLG Collaborates With Black Talent Initiative
This week, the Ontario Lottery and gaming company announced it would support one more local organization in its business. This time, the Crown Company has teamed up with the Black Talent Initiative to improve black representation in the workplace as well as invest in the growth of black professionals.
BTI is a volunteer – led social impact organization that aims to provide a community for black talent seeking professional development, mentoring, and career advancement. Its volunteers and partners are committed to creating connections and career opportunities for their communities through networks, resources, and business partners.
Tyzon Darker, director of Equity, Diversity and Inclusion at Crown Corporation, said the company was proud to join the Black Talent Initiative. The agency hopes to help and support the organization’s goal of proving black talent seeking career advancement through professional development, mentoring, and community that enables job opportunities and inspires fair, anti-racist jobs.
Mr. Kerr appreciates OLG’s differences and its unique perspective, background and direction, which makes Crown Corporation a tremendous workplace. According to her, Crown said working with BTI would further expand OLG’s commitment to create an environment where current and future employees can excel.
Through this partnership, OLG will be able to provide jobs to the organization’s network, creating a pipeline for OLG leaders to provide mentoring and networking opportunities for their members, and Crown and BTI will strive to develop learning opportunities to help this symbiotic relationship.
Mark Harrison, founder of the Black Talent Initiative, said in Ontario history that only a handful of organizations can match the level of commitment and contribution OLG has provided to the community. In his opinion, the focus of the Crown Agency is to ensure better economic benefits for local residents, which is perfectly in line with the BTI’s objectives.
Last month, OLG announced it was named by Forbes on Canada’s list of the best employers for 2022 for the first time in its history. This category is voted on by an independent survey of over 500 employees. This rating consists of direct and direct recommendations that ask employees what percentage of recommendations they can make of their employers to others.
Game activities allow crown corporation to support many Ontario communities and municipalities hosting casino properties. Also in January, Crown Corporation began issuing Q3 earnings-sharing payments to local communities. For example, the city of Windsor received a total of CA$2,158,545 from October 1, 2021 to December 31, 2021.
