New York Casino Orders Compliance with Vaccine Protocols

Last month, NBC’s New York I team set up a hidden camera to detect a violation of the vaccination proof protocol. The team was able to enter the building without showing proof of vaccination, despite a sign stating that everyone entering and exiting needed to provide such proof. The undercover team could have ordered food and sat at the table.
This Tuesday, the de Blasio administration clarified that New York City’s proof-of-vaccination policy does not apply to Resort World Casino because the property is based on state land. But on Wednesday, Gov. Hochul ordered casinos to follow New York City vaccination rules. In her opinion, every New Yorker should receive the opportunity because it will serve the greater good of New York City and the state.
Casino CEO Dan Bank noted that the facility has already developed and implemented a 21-point safety plan since it reopened last year, but said the facility would still follow the governor’s orders as it wants to comply with the latest health and safety rules and help New York recover from unprecedented conditions.
New York City’s Emergency Executive Order 225, which took effect on Aug. 16, states that visitors must show proof of vaccination to movie theaters, music or concert venues, adult entertainment, and casinos. Before casino management agreed to the city’s vaccination process, the I-Team also found that gaming properties were the subject of 22 complaints about failing to verify customers’ vaccination records. The complaints accumulated between Aug. 13 and Oct. 31.
By Nov. 1, 2021, New York City had conducted more than 56,500 tests, issuing 8,400 warnings to businesses caught red-handed for failing to verify their customers’ vaccination records. The first violation caught will be warned, the second will be fined $1,000, the third will be fined $2,000, and the fourth will all cost $5,000.

The New York Gaming Commission will grant three permits to the Downstate Casino, and Genting Malaysia’s gaming facilities are well-positioned as they already offer slot-only gambling, operating in the state.
Located in Queens, the gaming facility has become a full-scale casino, also supported by a coalition of local community groups and organizations.
