Recently, Rob Mitchell, director of communications and public affairs at Gateway Casino & Entertainment, said the company hopes to start operations in the building in early 2022. The representative also shared that the company was able to secure most of its construction materials and warehouses before the lockdown began in earnest.
Currently, the company is hosting a two-week job fair and is expected to hire more than 200 people for numerous jobs at the new facility. According to Mr. Mitchell, casinos will be able to provide about 300 jobs for local residents and generate about 1 to 2 million Canadian dollars per year in the area.
Mr Mitchell also shared that although there is currently no development outside the facility, staff are working on the interior. In other words, this work is about infrastructure because a lot of electrical work needs to be completed and fully operational for casinos. And the spokesman says all kitchen facilities should also be installed.
Despite recent updates to the property from the company, the gaming giant’s CEO did not specify the official opening date for the casino facility in North Bay, and, after making it clear that it will hire all necessary staff by early 2022, the company will organise a soft open before it opens to the public.
The company previously provided information on what the design of the new North Bay property would look like. The building will have a similar appearance and interior to the company’s Cascade Casino Chatham. The casino will also offer the company’s trademark match restaurant and public house, along with premium gaming amenities.
Currently, Gateway Casino & Entertainment is in the process of launching one more casino facility in Canada. Its name is Cascades Casino Delta and it will cost about 87 million Canadian dollars to revive it. It will offer numerous gaming opportunities on a 40,000-square-meter game floor with more than 600 slot machines and more than 30 live game tables.
