Asia’s longtime suitor Caesars joins Wakayama IR consortium
U.S.-based casino operator Caesars Entertainment Inc. said Wednesday it will join a consortium of ClareBest Nim Ventures KK’s development and operations for its casino resort in Wakayama, Japan.
The plan is in “Wakayama Marina City” (with the artist’s rendering).
Caesars Entertainment said in a press release it was joining the consortium “without a capital commitment.”
“Cesars is an iconic brand, and we are proud to partner with ClareBest Nim Ventures to bring it to Japan,” said Tom Reg, CEO of Caesars Entertainment, in a release.
He added: “We believe our experience has perfectly blended in with ClareBest Nim Ventures and look forward to working with them to create something special for the Kansai region.” It refers to the Japanese region where Wakayama is located.
“Cesars and Clarevest Nim Ventures share a common vision for Japan’s national IR program,” cited Eddie Woo, CEO of Clarevest Nim Ventures.
He added: “In addition to playing a role in promoting the economic recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic through the expansion of overseas visits, we are confident that together we can create resorts that provide significant regional economic stimulus in Wakayama Prefecture, the Kansai region and across Japan.”
Clairvest Nem Ventures is an award-winning consortium of proposal-requested schemes for the proposed creation of Wakayama in a casino complex with tourist facilities known in Japan as Integrated Resorts (IR).
French casino operators Groupe Partuche SA and AMSE Resorts Japan Inc (the latter linked to former casino executive William Weidner) were identified as partners in Clervest’s Wakayama plans, according to a Clervest announcement made in June.
Neither Fatouche nor AMSE Resorts were mentioned in a press release from Caesars Entertainment on Wednesday.
Mario Hoyauguan, son of Stanley Ho Hong Sun, a former monopoly in the Macau gaming industry and now founder of Macau operator SJM Holdings, is part of the consortium, a Wednesday announcement by Caesars Entertainment said.
He was described as an “eSports and Entertainment Entrepreneur” and a director of Clairvest Nem Ventures and “Chairman and Co-CEO of NIP Group, a multinational eSports organization.”
