Grand Korea Leisure Casino May Sales Up 15 pct

Korea’s foreign-only casino operator Grand Korea Leisure Inc. reported a 15.3 percent increase in casino sales in May from the previous month.

The sales reached 10.18 billion won ($9.2 million) compared with 8.83 billion won in April, it said Wednesday.

Sales in April already jumped to 48.4% compared to sales in March.

Compared to the same period last year, Grand Korea Leisure’s casino sales fell 1.7% in May.

Grand Korea Leisure’s table game sales in May this year were just under W8.27 billion, up 13.7 percent from W7.27 billion realized in April. The figure was up 2.4 percent year-on-year.

Machine game sales rose 22.4% to about 1.91 billion won this month, compared to 1.56 billion won generated in April. Machine game sales fell 16.3% compared to 2.28 billion won generated in May 2020.

For the calendar year to May 31, Grand Korea Leisure’s casino sales reached 25.47 billion won, down 78.9 percent from 120.59 billion won achieved in the previous year.

The total sales of table games were just over 20.93 billion won, down 80.6% from the same period last year.

In the first five months of this year, machine game sales were just under W4.54 billion, down 64.8% year-over-year.

Grand Korea Leisure, listed on the Korea Exchange, is a subsidiary of the Korea Tourism Organization and is affiliated with the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism in Korea.

The casino operator operates three foreigner-only casinos in Korea under the Seven Luck brand. There are two in the capital city of Seoul and one in the southern port city of Busan. 파워볼게임

The company told GGRAsia last month that it plans to continue operating two casinos in the capital, despite media reports that one of its current casinos in Seoul will be sold and demolished for redevelopment.
