Canada revises Classic Lotto 6/49 games
This year, the Canadian Lottery will mark 40 years of tremendous years of offering fans’ favorite Lotto 6/49 games to locals. That’s why the country decided to change the lottery-based game a little bit, so it will be even more attractive to lottery fans across the country. New and improved versions will come with two multi-million dollar jackpots every round.
Since its official launch in 1982, lotto 6/49 has generated over Canadian $65 billion in sales for the country, and in the meantime, it has awarded over Canadian $32 billion in cash prize money to thousands of players from the province. In addition, it also provided billions of Canadian dollars for priority programs and essential services in each state and territory of the country.
In September 2022, Lotto 6/49 will have new rules as the main draw will be known as Classic Draw. We will provide CA$5 million in prize money for each round. Now the warranty will be changed to a gold ball jackpot. The prize money will still provide a guaranteed prize for one lucky winner who will receive this prize or get a bigger and bigger jackpot.
This newly growing jackpot could start at CA$10 million and reach an amazing CA$60 million. Lotterians believe that the changes in the game will not only arouse more interest in participants, but will also maintain the elements of the current version that players know and love. In the meantime, ticket prices will still remain at CA$3.
Despite the changes in the game, players can purchase tickets at lottery retailers or online from local regulatory online platforms such as OLG.ca, lotoquebec.com, alc.ca or PlayNow.com in the same way as before. The probability of winning a Classic draw remains the same at one-sixth of a CA$3 play.
In addition, participants can choose their own 6-digit combination from 1 to 49 or play Instagram picks and receive 10-digit numbers for each play. The first draw for the modified Lotto 6/49 will take place on Wednesday, September 14, 2022, and tickets for the new version will go on sale on Sunday, September 11, 2022.
Even in its current form, Lotto 6/49 is quite popular and generous with fans. As in November last year, Sagita Narayan of Edmonton, Alberta, earned an incredible CA of $16.5 million. Mr Narayan’s life is definitely better, with numbers 2, 7, 18, 19, 23 and 25 drawn in lucky numbers on November 10, 2021.
According to OLG, Barry residents have won a whopping CA$36.4 million in prize money. Currently, the name of the winner is unknown, but it was drawn as the only winner of the prize on January 10, 2022. However, they have up to 52 weeks to contact the Crown Company and claim a big prize.
