Asian fourth-rate countries cannot compete with the world’s No. 1
The Argentine Football Association announced its A-match schedule for March this year on the 29th (Korea time). Argentina will tour China from March 18 to 26, and will play warm-up matches against Nigeria and Cote d’Ivoire, respectively, in Hangzhou and Beijing.
Argentina had an exhibition match against Australia in China in June last year, and will have an A-match for the second consecutive year in China. The Argentinean team is visiting China for the second consecutive year, but again this time, it did not have a match with the Chinese team.
“Many media expected the Chinese national team to play against Argentina. However, China gave up such a chance,” Sohu said. “Argentina came again this year, but China gave up another chance to play against the World Cup-winning team. A match against Argentina is what most teams around the world dream of, but China can easily give up.”
In particular, it makes no sense that the fourth-rate Asian soccer team will play against Argentina, the winner of the World Cup. “If Argentina takes the game seriously, I don’t know how many goals it will score,” he said. “China’s Asian Cup performance was a mess with two draws and one loss and no goal.” On the other hand, Argentina is the winner of the World Cup and the No. 1 player in the FIFA rankings. “It would be no surprise that China will suffer a double-digit loss. If Argentina continues to relax and face China, it will win tremendously.”
The media outlet said, “China has played Argentina only once in its history. At the 1984 match in Indonesia, China beat Argentina 1-0. China used to beat the world champion, adding, “Now China has no chance to play Argentina. It is continuing its unbeaten run against Argentina for 40 consecutive years.”
China failed to score in three group games of the 2023 Asian Cup, and was eliminated with two draws and one loss without a win. China has been in a slump for six consecutive games since the 2026 North Korea-China World Cup qualifying match against South Korea held in November last year. Since China will have to play two World Cup qualifying matches against Singapore in March next year, it was not possible to play an A match against Argentina even if Argentina visited China. China, which is included in Group C of the second qualifying round for the 2026 North Korea-China World Cup along with South Korea, has one win and one loss (three points), and is in third place in the group, trailing Thailand (three points) in goal difference, making it unclear whether it will pass the second qualifying round.
